Ayurveda,the science of life has always emphasized to maintain the health and prevent the diseases by following  proper diets and life style regimen rather than treatment and cure of the diseases.For this purpose the Dinacharya(daily regimen) and ritucharya(seasonal regimen) have been mentioned in the classics of Ayurveda.

With the change in season,the change is very evident in the environment we live in.So the human body also greatly influenced by external environment.If the body is unable adopt itself to stressors due to changes in specific traits of seasons,it may lead to dosha vaishamya,which make the body susceptible to one or other kinds of disorders.

In summer, the environment is prevalent with intense heat and unhealthy wind.The strength of the person become less,deposition of vata dosha occurs,but the vitiated kapha dosha is pacified during this season and the agni(digestive power)of the person will remain in mild state.

  • Foods having sheeta(cold) and drava(liqid) guna such as rice, lentil,fruits(orange,watermelon,grapes) and vegetables(cucumber,small onion,asparagus,green leafy vegetables).summer is the best time to have seasonal fruits and fresh vegetables and salads.
  • Drink plenty of water-8 to 12 glasses of water in a day and other liquids such as butter milk,fruit juices,shadava(curd churned with sugar and pepper powder).
  • Reduce meat and fried food. Take kharjura and ksheera(milk shake with dates), Rice gruel with ghee.


  • Staying in cool places,applying sandal wood and other aromatic pastes over the body,wearing light cotton dresses
  • Avoid sun exposure during the day from 11 am to 3 pm
  • Sleeping during the day time
  • Avoid excessive hardwork,too much sexual indulgence and alcoholic preparations are prohibitted.


Ayurvedic preparations like nimbadi kashayam,drakshadi kashayam,mahathikthaka kashayam etc can be used based on disease condition

Drink water boiled with goksura(tribulus terrestris),coriander seeds,barley

Migraine Treatment in Ayurveda

Migraine is a neurological condition characterized by recurrent head aches which is felt as a throbbing pain,numbness or a pulsating sensation usually in just one side of the head.Associated symptoms are nausea,vomiting and extreme sensitivity towards light,sound,smell etc.Migraine usually runs in families and women are more affected than men.

According to Ayurveda the signs and symptoms of migraine comes under the thridoshaja
vyadhi ”Ardhavabhedaka” or “Anantavatha”where vatha and pitha are the predominant
doshas involved.

Causes of migraine :

Exact causes of migraine is not known.It can result from abnormal brain activity causing
temporary changes in chemicals,nerves and blood vessels in the brain.

Triggering factors of migraine :

  • Loud noise,strong smell,bright light,dehydration,severe heat or extremes in weather.
  • Stress,poor sleep,strenuous activities.
  • Hormonal changes such as estrogen and progesterone fluctuations during
    menstruation,pregnancy or menopause.
  • Skipping or irregular meals,caffeine products such as tea or coffee,certain foods such as chocolates,cheese etc.
  • Smoking,alcohols etc.

Symptoms of migraine :

Before the onset of migraine patient may feel prodromal symptoms such as mood changes,neck stiffness,constipation etc.

AURA-Patients may experience warning symptoms before or with the head ache.Black spots or zigzag lines in the visual field,light flashes,blurred vision,numbness or tingling sensation in one side of the face or body,hearing unusual noise,speech difficulty etc.

Even after the attack of migraine patient may feel postdromal symptoms such as
confusion,moodiness,weakness,dizziness,sensitivity to light and sound etc that persists for about 24 hours.

Types of migraine :

  • Migraine with aura.
  • Migraine without aura (commonest type)
  • Migraine aura without head ache (silent migraine)

Diagnosisis based on clinical history and physical examination.Imaging techniques such as CT scan,MRI scan etc can rule out other causes of headache.

Ayurveda Management of Migraine :

Treatment depends on age and health condition of patients,dietary activities,frequency of migraine attacks,associated symptoms etc.

Ayurveda offers various panchakarma treatments. Nasya,virechana,vasthi, shirodhara, lepam etc are the effective therapies.Various herbs and internal medications can be administered according to the advice of an ayurvedic physician.

Lower back pain(lumbago) is the common problem which affects our daily activities. Pain in the lower back restricts activity and reduces work capacity and quality of enjoyment of everyday living and turns daily life into a misery. Surveys indicate that 70 per cent of the population suffers from low back pain at some time in their lives. The highest rate of back pain occurs among the 30 to 64-year age group.

Known to Ayurveda as Katigraha or Prishtashula, the condition is characterized by a chronic, persistent pain ranging from a dull ache to a sharp stab-like pain to a burning sensation affecting the lower back. It may also present with stiffness and loss of motility, numbness or tingling with pain shooting down the buttocks, back of the thighs and the legs and feet.

What causes lower back pain

Low back ache is often precipitated by moving, lifting objects or twisting of the waist. Common causes for the backache is a poor posture habit,Lack of physical exercises,incorrect posture,constipation,stress are the common minor causes

Other common major causes are: Degenerated disc diseases like spondylosis, herniated disc, sciatica,arthritis,lumbar muscular spasm,infections,skeletal deformities,anorectal diseases like haemorrhoids,fistula etc,uterine disorders,renal diseases like urinary calculi,etc.

Ayurvedic Perspective of Low back pain:

Ayurveda holds that low back pain is a result of vitiation of one of the three principal ‘doshas’. ‘Katigraha/Prishtashula’ or low back pain is most often an indication of Vata aggravation and bone and muscle weakness (asthi dhatu kshaya or mamsa dhatu kshaya

Treatment Approach

Treatment in Ayurveda aims to bring the vitiated dosha back to the state of equilibrium and thereby to the state of health. One thus pacified, the balanced doshas will allow treatment efforts to be directed to the dhatus (tissues) involved.

In severe cases patients are adviced to take rest initially. Treatments like lepam (herbal pasting on the affected area),kashayadhara (pouring medicated herbal decotion on the affected part),nadi swedam (a type of sweating treatment),virechanam(purgation) etc gives quick relief from pain and stiffness.

Panchakarma procedures and other various ayurvedic treatments are indicated in lower back pain. There are various internal ayurvedic medications that have to be selected depends upon the stages of the disorder and condition of the patients.

In Dhara therapy, prolonged and continuous pressure due to pouring of the medicated liquid may cause tranquility of mind and induce natural sleep.

What is Paralysis ? Paralysis Treatment With Ayurveda in Dubai.

Paralysis is the complete loss of muscle function in an affected limb or muscle group.


  • The chain of nerve cells that runs from the brain through the spinal cord out to the muscle is called the motor pathway.
  • Normal muscle function requires intact connections all along this motor pathway.
  • Damage at any point reduces the brain’s ability to control the muscle movements.
  • This reduced efficiency causes weakness also called paresis. Complete loss of communication prevents any willed movements at all.

This lack of control is called paralysis.


  • Damage in the brain or spinal cord (UMN lesion) or
  • Damage to the nerves outside the spinal cord, the peripheral nervous system (LMN lesion).

Beat The Summer Heat by Ayurvedic lifestyle


Ayurveda, the age old science of life, emphasizes that one must engage in maintenance of good health and prevention of diseases by following proper diet & lifestyle regimen rather than be inflicted with disease and engaging in its cure. These aspects are elaborated in Ayurvedic Classics, while explaining the importance of Dinacharya (daily regimen) & Ritucharya (seasonal regimen). Every Ritu, (season) is characterized by special features that bring about unique effects on the body as well as the environment. Ayurveda has depicted various rules and regimens (Charya), regarding diet and behavior to acclimatize seasonal enforcement easily, without altering body homeostasis. Lifestyle disorders are very common in the present era, basically originating from lack of following seasonal regimens due to lack of concentration on seasonal characteristics.

What Happens in the Summer Months ?

During Greeshma Ritu, the Kapha in the body begins to melt, and the Pitta gets aggravated. The dryness and lightness in the weather also gives rise to excessive Vata. Hence, the transformational power of Pitta is affected during the Summers, leading to poor digestion and causing acidity, constipation, stomach ulcers and diarrhea. Meanwhile, the Vata aggravation causes fatigue and lethargy.

What must we do?

Due to the imbalance of the dosas in summers, most of us need to balance pitta regardless of our constitution. Our digestive fire is naturally low during hot weather, and we often experience a decrease in appetite.

  • Respect this change in season by eating in moderation.
  •  Avoid drinking ice cold juices & ice-creams during or immediately after meals as it would impact the Pitta and reduce digestive powers of your body.
  •  Drink plenty of water throughout the day, as it helps in flushing out all the toxic matter from the body.
  • Include ample of fruits and vegetables in your regular diet. Eat fruits like watermelon, peaches, plums, mangoes, grapes, pears, avocado and berries are good to beat summer heat. Use vegetables like – Asparagus, cucumber, cabbage, sweet potato, celery, green leafy vegetables.
  • Avoid food that is greasy, oily, and fried. The food that contains lot of spices and pungent taste should be kept away. Do not consume stale or leftover food, as they contain harmful bacteria. Eat fresh food that is cooked just an hour before.
  • Cut down the intake of coffee, tea, or carbonated drinks. Minimize the consumption of alcohol during summers. Carbonated drink contains acids that make your more dehydrated. Rather consume buttermilk, fruit juices, coconut water and traditional drinks- sherbet prepared from Indian gooseberry, kokum, and raw mangoes. You may also enjoy herbal tea like Mint tea, which provides amazing relaxation and stamina.

Ayurvedic Therapies during Summer Months

Abhyangam with medicated oils that have cooling properties followed by mild fomentation is recommended, this will nourish skin and will reduce the effects of high temperature on body.

Treatments like Shirodhara will give relaxing effect. In this season Shirodhara can be done with decoctions which have cooling properties this will calm the mind and irritability caused by increased temperature.

In this season eyes also become dry and fatigued due dryness in environment and bright, intensive light rays so Netra Dhara with decoctions helps a lot to rejuvenate eyes. A. Panka:

Preparation – Mix 30 gm of jaggery in 1 liter of water. Then add a pinch of powdered dry ginger, cardamom and cinnamon and mix it well. This preparation is called “Panaka” It is very soothing, cooling, nourishing, tasty and it satisfactorily quenches thirst.

B. Mantha:

Preparation – Take equal quantities of dried grapes, dates and figs. Soak it in the water for an hour. Then put it in mixer and churn it well. This preparation is called “Mantha” It is very soothing, has a cooling effect and is nourishing. It also relaxes and cools the system.

C. Raga:

Diluted syrup of following is recommended-  Gulaba (rose),Amra (Mango),Draksha (Grapes),Chandana (Sandal), Jambhira (Lemon), These can be made into syrup and diluted with water to be served when needed.
